GolemnGolems Life is an inspiring thing. Often viewed as the imperfect application of divine prowess, every creature bestowed with life enjoys all the trials and rewards of their imperfections. There are those, however, so inspired by the accidental excellence that they seek to create a version of Life for themselves. Like artists, a golem is a being that is not alive, but seeks to impress upon us the semblance of life their own version of flawlessness. From completely loyal guardians to visions of statuesque humanity, the golem is a creation crafted out of any material. A sense of duty and animation is imposed upon them when the master magician inscribes upon their forehead their name. The name of a Golem signifies the reason for their existence and the name can change that existence. Generally, any code will do but once removed or altered a Golem may also be moved, or altered. In some cases, the act of their inner magics are such a complex and complete tangle of laws that they too become confused and create a near facsimile of the lives they were created to mimic. This may be intentional, lucky, or guided by the hand of some original power.
General Lifespan Golems are ageless so long as they have their names and the coded lexicons that created them. They are as durable as the materials used to create them which could be amazingly strong and hardy or delicately beautiful and fragile. Strengths/Abilities The strength of a Golem lay within the materials of their creation and the foundational strength of the codes given to them. The more complex the lexicon used to provide their basic laws, the more prone a Golem is to the subjugation of more subtle magics and social engineering. Generally, a Golem was crafted for labor and their inability to feel pain (though it’s possible for them to imagine it) make them ideal warriors. They can be found performing many mundane tasks such as servitude, guardianship, or entertainment. Weakness Two faces of the same coin, a Golem usually has no will of their own though it is possible their cores are so rife with the rituals of living and how to react to complex situations that they give the impression they are in fact sentient. In some rare situations, the strike of divine chaos may have made it so to give a Golem their will. While rare, they can be wise, and yet child-like in their nativity, bound to repair damage done to them rather than regenerate it. |
